ABOUT

The Boston Tutoring Program is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to empowering low-income families, especially those with limited internet access or parents/guardians who are unable to assist with homework.

Our mission is to provide students in grades 1 through 8 with comprehensive homework support alongside enriching activities in music, art, technology, cooking, science, engineering, health, nutrition, and social/life skills.

We also offer life skills classes for high school students, equipping them with essential tools for success after graduation, including career planning, communication, money management, and time management.

Since our launch on November 14, 2022, the Boston Tutoring Program has served students throughout the 2024–2025 academic year and will return for the 2025–2026 school year. Sessions are held at the former North Boston School Library (522 N. Stone Street, Boston, Georgia), under the leadership of Education Specialist Dontavior Bryant and Academic Support Specialist Lawanda Jackson.

In partnership with Thomas County Schools, Envision Bank, Southern Harvest, and Publix, we proudly provide students with transportation to our after-school program, which operates Monday through Thursday from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM.

Currently serving 28 students, our program is growing, with many families on a waiting list due to space limitations. We are dedicated to expanding our reach and continuing to provide a supportive, engaging, and educational environment for all participants.

Child Safety at the Boston Tutoring Program

At the Boston Tutoring Program, the safety and well-being of every child in our care is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a secure, supportive, and nurturing environment where students can learn, grow, and thrive.

To ensure the safety of all participants, we have implemented the following measures:

  • Supervised Environment: All tutoring sessions and enrichment activities are conducted under the direct supervision of qualified staff, including our Education Specialist and Academic Support Specialist, as well as trained volunteers.

  • Background Checks: All staff members and volunteers undergo comprehensive background checks before working with children to ensure a safe and trustworthy environment.

  • Secure Facility: Our program is held at the former North Boston School Library, a safe and monitored location with controlled access during program hours.

  • Emergency Preparedness: Staff members are trained in basic first aid and emergency procedures, ensuring they are prepared to respond effectively to any situation.

  • Transportation Safety: In partnership with Thomas County Schools, we provide reliable and safe transportation for students attending our program, adhering to all transportation safety protocols.

  • Parental Communication: We maintain open lines of communication with parents and guardians to keep them informed of their child’s progress, behavior, and any concerns that may arise.

By prioritizing these safety standards, the Boston Tutoring Program ensures that every child can engage in educational and enrichment activities with confidence, knowing they are protected and valued.
